My Walk with Jesus

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. - Joshua 1:8 -

Ascension Day

Friday, 18 May 2007

I didn't know yesterday was Ascension Day till I read the ODB online. It gave me a fresh prespective of the life and mission of our Lord Jesus Christ. Most of the time, we celebrate His birth during Christmas, remember His sufferings on the cross during Good Friday, and rejoice on His resurrection day on Easter Sunday. But we often forget or are unaware (like me) about this special Day which is the Ascension Day, 40 days after His resurrection. It's this day that completes the whole picture isn't it?

Reading the ODB, I realised that the life of Christ actually reflects our Christian life. His birth gave us hope, and is akin to our new birth when we accept the Lord as Saviour of our lives. His sufferings on the cross assures us that He understands all that we go through in life. His death is like the dark hours in our lives where everything seems so hopeless and helpless. His resurrection tells us that in Him, we can overcome all things that have come against us. And His ascension assures us that He is right now at the right hand of God the Father interceeding for us every moment of our lives. At the same time, He sent the Holy Spirit to live in us to be our beacon and guiding light.

Thank God for this fresh perspective!
